Since its establishment, the Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology (GDIIST) has always placed the recruitment and cultivation of graduate students at a strategic level. Training Objectives

Basic Admission Requirements
1.University Background: The university where the applicant is enrolled or plans to pursue joint cultivation should have strong capabilities and a high level in relevant disciplinary fields, able to provide high-quality educational resources.
2.Professional Relevance: The undergraduate and/or master's major should be a strength of the said university and closely related to the research direction of the intended GDIIST research group/joint laboratory.
3.Research Potential: Possess a certain research foundation and demonstrate good potential for research development.
4.On-site Learning: Able to commit to conducting research, study, and practice on-site at GDIIST.
Training Duration
1.Joint-Training Students: The training period generally starts from the date of entry into GDIIST until the end date of the current academic program.
2.Interns: A single internship period is generally no less than 3 months (no less than 6 months for interns from overseas universities), with a cumulative internship period not exceeding 1 year.

As of July 31, 2025, GDIIST has achieved significant results in graduate student cultivation:
1.Partner Universities for Joint-Training: Has signed official joint training agreements with 6 universities (University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic University, South China University of Technology, Beijing Normal University, ShanghaiTech University) to establish university-institute joint training mechanisms; has established joint training mechanisms between supervisors with over 20 other renowned domestic and international universities, including Fudan University, Nanjing University, University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, etc.
2.Current Training Scale: Since its establishment, has enrolled over 130 joint-training graduate students cumulatively, with currently over 100 students in training; has enrolled over 300 intern students cumulatively, with nearly 100 currently active.

Brain Science: Brain cognition, brain perception, brain diseases, audition, vision, computational neuroscience, etc.

Educational Initiatives
Graduate education is a critical stage for completing the leap from "knowledge acquisition" to "knowledge creation." GDIIST strengthens graduate education comprehensively through diverse initiatives:
1.Theoretical and Experimental Courses: Offers online neurobiology courses, a series of theoretical courses on "Scientific Research Techniques and Methods," and small-class experimental courses on "Frontier Technologies in Brain Science and Brain-Inspired Intelligence" to systematically enhance students' theoretical and practical abilities.
2.Training Process Assessment: Organizes annual unified assessments for first-year PhD students (research proposal defense) and third-year PhD students (mid-term review) to strictly control training quality.
3.Graduate Student Forum: Holds a Graduate Student Forum biannually, where representatives selected by various research groups deliver academic reports, promoting academic exchange and effectively enhancing students' academic presentation and innovative research capabilities.
4.Sharing and Exchange Activities: Invites Principal Investigators (PIs) every two months to share their research journeys and insights, building a cross-disciplinary and cross-group exchange platform and providing valuable guidance for young students' research career planning.
5.Ideological Education and Strategic Vision Expansion: Leveraging GDIIST's location in the Greater Bay Area, offers special lectures such as "Decoding the Bay Area Practice of Chinese Modernization" to help graduate students understand national strategic deployments, discern the institutional advantages of the Greater Bay Area development, and grasp opportunities presented by the times.
